The 15 Day Disneyland Challenge: Day 13

Note: This post is part of a 15 Day challenge with questions referring to Disneyland or Walt Disney World. For more information, or to see all 15 questions, please refer to the introductory post, The 15 Day Disneyland Challenge. As stated in that post, I am not the creator of the challenge – just a willing participant!

Day 13: The thing you like to take a picture of at the parks that isn’t a character.

Honestly, there’s so much I was unsure what I should pick – until I started looking through my pictures and realized there’s one icon that is definitely used more than others: The Matterhorn. There are just so many angles to take pictures from, so many perspectives! Instead of using many words today, I’ve decided to let some of my pictures from past trips speak for themselves.

A view from the Submarine Lagoon – Only things missing are Skyway buckets!

The view from Alice in Wonderland – truly a wonder.

Almost the same spot as from Alice, only from the ground and with the Monorail!

Even with scaffolding on the mountain, I love to take pictures of it – this one from Pixie Hollow!

A view from an elephant…

I love how it peeks out over the top of Peter Pan’s Flight!

Perhaps my favorite picture I’ve taken of the mountain – love how it blends with the faux range of Pinocchio’s village yet still towers over all in its majesty.

And with that, I leave it to your answers – who else has a favorite thing to photograph in the parks?

  1. I’m going to be cliche, but I always take a photo of the castle! I love to take family photos with the castle too. I’m not a princess type of girl, but for some reason I just can’t get enough of the castle! I love it =) (and I’m picky too. I love Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland, I think it’s the best one of them all!)

  2. Mine is Splash! Different angles, times of day, and seasons. That mountain is just so flipping awesome in my opinion!! But the castle and Matterhorn too are some favs!

  3. I seem to wind up taking pictures of anything I can get my kids reactions to. However, once I get my DSLR, the castle and pirates will be mine!!!!

Not sure if you are aware or not but there is an unbelievable photograph website out there only geared toward taking better pictures at Disneyland. It is written for anyone and provides a great instruction f

  4. Mine is Rivers of America, as seen from the Mark Twain and/or Columbia. I take photos as if I were really there, not on a ride.

…my second-place is the statuary around Haunted Mansion. Especially the statues above the FastPass queue and the Pet Cemetary.

  5. So many photo ops, but my musts include – the Partners statue, the castle, the floral Mickey at the entrance and Main Street.

    • I have the best picture of the floral Mickey during the 50th – it was before opening and a feral cat came out, sat right above the Mickey ears and posed. Instant classic.

  6. I’ve tried to get that same shot of the Matterhorn from in Storybookland… It’s cool, but they need to trim back the hedge to make the sightlines better ^_~

Of any single thing in the park, I probably have the most photos of the castle. Some of them are identical! It is terribly picturesque.

  7. Do I have to narrow it down to just one. My answer is the weathervanes and if I HAVE to choose a favorite at the moment it’s Mary Poppins over the Jolly Holiday Bakery.

  8. When I look through my photos, most consist of the Disneyland Railroad and the Rivers of America. I always take a photo of the MSUSA station, you’d think it’s my first time..haha! Several hours have been spent strolling the RoA. I try take pics from every spot along the river.
