The 15 Day Disneyland Challenge: Day 11

Note: This post is part of a 15 Day challenge with questions referring to Disneyland or Walt Disney World. For more information, or to see all 15 questions, please refer to the introductory post, The 15 Day Disneyland Challenge. As stated in that post, I am not the creator of the challenge – just a willing participant!

Day 11: Your favorite person (face) character to meet at the parks.

I never really was a big character person. Until I had a kid. A kid who LOVES characters. Then everything changed. Yes, we are now one of the autograph seeking, wait-in-line families who will turn on a dime if we see a character walking past – as long as it’s not a villain. So then, I have to ask the question, who would be my favorite? The answer would lie within another question. Who is my favorite to see my daughter interact with?

The princesses, are, of course, awesome. As are the antics of Alice and the Mad Hatter. However, through all the interactions, my answer would have to go back to my little girl’s favorite:

Peter and my Goose.

Peter will always hold a special place in our heart.  He was her first true favorite character. She was so obsessed with Peter, I commissioned a good friend to do a painting reflecting this. Notice how her eyes never leave Peter, although she’s flying over Neverland. More to the point, she’s flying with him! At the park, Peter has that same effect.

Notice Pinocchio? Another early favorite!

Even To this day, he’s still a favorite of hers. Of course, what child, be it boy or girl, doesn’t dream of flying to Neverland? What adult doesn’t dream of being a kid again? Perhaps it’s because we see him so rarely, but Peter’s interactions with my kiddo are my favorites to watch. He gets down on her level, acts as much the kid as she is, and just has fun! What’s not to love about that?

What about you? Do you have a favorite face character to meet?

  1. I don’t even have to think about this one. Merida. Merida Merida Merida. I have waited in hour long lines just to see her. Not that it felt like an hour, the hosts in that area do a very good job of entertaining the line. As much as I love the character though, I think what really stands out is her location. The cake toss, wheel you can spin to find out your clan, and archery really complete the experience. And the bears! If you haven’t seen pictures of Merida in the parks, she always has these 3 bears behind her. When you meet her, the bears react to everything she says, even if you don’t acknowledge them. And you can play games with them! And they pose for the picture. I could go on and on about those bears. And to top it all off, Merida is sweet like a princess, adorable like a fairy, and playful like Peter. She’s the perfect face character in my book.
Plus, her hair is awesome in real person.

  2. My favorite princess has been Aurora since I saw SLEEPING BEAUTY as a child, so I always feel a tug of excitement when she walks (or rides) by. But by far my favorite at the Park is the Mad Hatter, mostly because “he” (ie. both actors that I’ve seen portraying him) have been especially attentive to my mom whenever we go to see them. At this point you can tell they recognize her (in her wheelchair) and go out of their way to make her feel special by treating her madly. She loves the attention and I love them for giving it.

  3. This is a tough one. My daughter loves all the princesses and her favorites seem to be the closed face characters, so I’m going to have to go with Belle because I had a major crush on one of the girls that played Belle when working at Disney World. Okay, I had a crush on all the girls that played Belle when working at Disney World. 🙂
